Plum Hollow history

A Century of Excellence:

At the heart of Plum Hollow’s legacy is our iconic 18-hole course, designed in 1921 by world-renowned architects Harry Colt and Charles Hugh Alison. For over a century, our course has been the playground for distinctive Detroiters, offering a singular experience that combines the thrill of the game with the beauty of our surroundings. Over the years, Plum Hollow has been placed on several of Golf Digest’s “Greatest 100” listings.

Legends of the Game:

Throughout the years, Plum Hollow has played host to some of the most prestigious tournaments in golfing history. From the 1947 PGA Championship, where Australian Jim Ferrier emerged victorious over a field of luminaries including Ben Hogan and Sam Snead, to the 1957 Western Open, where Doug Ford claimed victory in a thrilling 4-man playoff, Plum Hollow has been the stage for legendary battles and unforgettable moments. And let’s not forget the quirky anecdotes, like Sam Snead’s infamous 10 on hole #4 during the ’57 Western Open—a testament to the challenges and excitement that Plum Hollow’s course offers.

“We have 18 of the best golf holes in the Midwest right here in Southfield, Michigan! I’ve probably played more than 1,000 rounds in my nearly 25 years of membership and I’ve never been bored.
